Choose one

Three problems. Pick the one that excites you.

Each answer is a written design, not a working program. Here is the idea of each. The full statements are in the Word document.

Problem A

AI PC Recommendation Engine

Which laptop is right for each person?

Design an application that recommends the right AI PC: for a new buyer, or for each employee of a small or mid-size business refreshing its laptops every three to five years. Show how it collects data, how it decides, and how it balances power, budget and a fleet that is easy to manage.

  • Data and privacy
  • Recommendation approach
  • Fleet refresh

Problem B

AI PC Accessibility Assistant

Control a PC with your voice or your hands.

Design a simple on-device assistant that offers an alternative to keyboard and mouse. Pick voice or hand gestures, focus on two or three everyday tasks, and show how it works, how it keeps data private and how it stays light on the laptop.

  • Voice or gestures
  • Privacy and mistakes
  • Staying responsive

Problem C

Private AI Workbench

Sensitive documents stay on the laptop.

Design a workbench that lets an employee find, question, summarise and compare sensitive documents with AI, while every document stays on the device. Show how answers stay trustworthy, and how it works across laptops with very different CPU, GPU and NPU capability.

  • Hardware tiers
  • Privacy and IT

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Who can take part?

2nd and 3rd year students, plus 4th year dual-degree students, and 1st year Master degree students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical discipline.

Do I need to build a working program?

No. We are asking for your thinking and your design, not a working program. Submit one Word document of 2,000 words or fewer.

Can I work in a team?

No. Submissions are individual.

Can I use AI tools?

Use of AI tools is allowed. But more than AI, critical thinking is going to be your best friend.

Will you give us data?

No. We are not sharing any data: where your design needs data, you decide what it is and say where it would come from. For Problem A, the laptop catalogue is published on psref.lenovo.com.

How does selection work?

Round 1: reviewers read every submission. Round 2: shortlisted participants are interviewed. Internship selections are made after the interviews.

When are the interviews?

Between 10–20 Nov, based on the candidate’s and interviewers’ availability.

What is the winter internship?

5 openings and a fixed stipend of ₹1L. The internship needs a minimum of 4 weeks, and you give your availability when you register.

Will my name or submission be made public?

No. Participation does not constitute consent to unrelated marketing or public use of a participant’s name, image or submission; any such use requires separate permission where applicable.
